A meeting was held 12th January, 1971 at Badgerys Creek, present were Mr Roy Burnell, Mr S Heterick, Mr T Smith, Mrs J Ramsland, Mr Woolls, Mrs Higgins, Mr J Harford, Mrs J Hawkes, Mr R Hawkes, Mr Naughton, Mrs Beves and Mrs S Copping. The meeting was called to order at 8.45pm with Mr Roy Burnell taking the chair. A general explanation of Breed Clubs, their functions, and the requirements made by the RASKC for affiliation was made by Mr Burnell. The meeting then decided to have the following officers:

1 Patron, 1 President, 2 Vice Presidents, 1 Honorary Secretary, 1 Honorary Treasurer, 1 Publicity Officer , 1 Auditor
and 6 Committee Members

It was moved by Mr Harford and seconded by Mrs J Hawkes that the club be called “The Weimaraner Club of NSW”. This was put to the meeting and was carried with one dissent.

Nominations were called for and the following were elected

Mr Roy Burnell was elected Patron.

Membership fees were decided at $1.00 single and $1.50 double.

In February 1971, members unanimously rejected an approach by German Shorthaired Pointer Club to combine both clubs.

The 1st Show – a Parade was held 18th December 1971 with 26 entries – Judge Mrs R Gerardy (NSW).
Best Exhibit was Aegis Tornado (C Tiplady) and Runner Up Shadowmar Princess (T & L Smith).

The 1st Championship Show was held 16th December 1972 with 31 entries – Judge Mr L DeGroen (NSW).
Best Exhibit was Scodan Burkhard CD (P Starnovsky) and Runner Up Ch Riverdrive Dawn Cloud (G Burnham).

The inaugural Field Trial was held 5th May 1973 – Judges Mr L DeGroen and Major Everingham.

The Club held various social events to raise money, BBQs, film nights, Wine tastings seemed to be very popular. Picnic training days were held regularly to encourage new puppy buyers in all fields of our versatile breed

The Club colours of Gold and Grey were selected by members in October 1973. In July 1973 the Club had 78 financial members and 3 Junior members. Due to the declining number of members attending General Meetings, it was decided to hold meetings Bi-monthly.

In 1988 the Club hosted the first Weimaraner National at Castle Hill Showground, with German Breed Warden Herr Werner Petrie officiating with 105 class entries, 11 obedience entries and 5 gundog obedience entries. Best Exhibit was Ch Quabana Cloudburst (S Lawler) and Runner Up was Ch Ghostwind Ultra Suede (A & P Cockcroft).

Our biggest event to date being the Easter Championship Show held at Erskine Park on 12th March 1994 with Judge Mrs Judy Colan (USA – Colsidex) with 157 entries. Best Exhibit was Ch Grauhund Nite Moves (AI) (Grauhund Kennels) and Runner Up Ch Grauhund New Manintown (AI) (Grauhund Kennels).

The next being our Silver Anniversary Show held at Erskine Park on 19th October 1996 with Judge Mr Michael Shorman (Canada – Roschel) with 118 entries. Best Exhibit was Ch/Am/Can Ch Divani Loads A’Trouble (AI) (D Horner/V Speck) and Runner Up Ch Grauhund Nikkitah (S Mills & C Wright).

The Club holds a Pointscore Competition each year and offers Perpetual Trophies for Weimaraner of the Year, Dog of the Year, Bitch of the Year, Junior of the Year, Puppy of the Year, Longhair of the Year, Obedience Dog of the Year, and the Most Versatile Weimaraner.
